I saw this in the PAP Resource room after a slightly dulan-ing Prob tutorial...... So I thought to give my own input to the problem......

I know I speak blasphemy..... but I suppose if you put a Playstation 3 in front of me and a physics textbook in front of me, I'd definitely pick the PS3 if I were under no pressure to study. Sometimes I question my "passion for physics". I mean..... PS3 > QM text says a lot..... There are plenty of others here who are so involved, who are so widely read (and actually internalize all they've read). People who are smart. Who am I compared to then? Sometimes, I feel like just letting go, resigning myself to a more comfortable fate. Wouldn't I be much happier with life if I believed that it were all about money, PS3 and porn?

Yet, there's another side of me that tells me to stay true to my convictions. I may not be as smart, as gifted or as dedicated to the sciences as some people. But, I like what I'm doing. I enjoy learning. I enjoy having the right to be a scientific/intellectual snob to chemists, to business majors, to engineers. I guess I've got to remind myself, I'm not studying physics because it's got practical applications. I'm not studying physics to make money. I'm doing it because I like it. I may not get an orgasm at the thought of evaluating farny integrals or solving schrodinger's equations as some others do, but I still enjoy what I do. So forgive me if I'm not quick enough, forgive me if I'm slightly cavalier about lecture attendance. I get by in my own way.......
